Konda Surekha slams Kadiyam for chairing meet with officials

Hyderabad: Escalating her feud with Station Ghanpur MLA Kadiyam Srihari, endowment minister Konda Surekha on Thursday asked him to resign if he could not reconcile himself to being an MLA after serving as a minister. “If he cannot adjust to being an MLA, he should resign and sit at home. Otherwise, he should prove his strength by getting elected again and becoming a minister,” she said. After meeting TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud and submitting a complaint against Srihari over his review meeting with endowments department officials, Surekha alleged that despite over 40 years in politics and nearly 15 years as a minister, Srihari was unwilling to admit his mistake and was instead attacking her. She warned that she would not tolerate attempts to blame her or disturb the district. The minister also questioned Srihari’s political ethics, saying he continued as a BRS MLA while his daughter was elected to the Lok Sabha on a Congress ticket. “If he believes in values, he should resign and seek a fresh mandate,” she said, recalling that her husband Konda Murali had resigned as MLC when she had changed parties.Defending her objection to Srihari’s visit to the endowments department, Surekha said she had no issue with him meeting officials but objected to the way he conducted a review meeting. Citing his own press release, she alleged that he chaired a meeting in the department’s conference hall, issued directions to officials on protecting temple lands and preparing DPRs, creating the impression that he was conducting a minister-level review.Surekha said she raised the issue only to prevent embarrassment to the Congress and the govt and to deny the opposition an opportunity to target the party. She said Mahesh Kumar Goud assured her that the complaint would be examined.
