Kota: Family members of a 70-year-old paralysis patient under treatment at New Medical College Hospital (NMCH), alleging medical negligence, manhandled resident doctors after the patient died Thursday morning. The resident doctors, in protest, boycotted work at the hospital for three hours, demanding action against the accused. The police arrested the deceased’s son, Shakti Singh (25), for allegedly thrashing a resident doctor. A case against the accused has been registered.Paralysis- hit Amar Singh (70), a resident of Rampura area in Kota, was being treated at the hospital’s ICU for nearly a week. Singh died around 10 am Thursday, after which his family created a ruckus in the ward. The family alleged that the staff, citing a VIP visit, shifted Singh to another bed where he was left unattended.Hospital superintendent Dr Ashutosh Sharma, however, has denied the allegations, stating that the shifting was a routine process and it had nothing to do with the patient’s death. According to Dr Sharma, Singh was already in a critical condition.The police said that the probe into the case is on.
