Varanasi: In a shocking incident, a one-and-a-half-year-old boy was allegedly kidnapped after miscreants hit his mother with a speeding Bolero SUV in the Gagaha area on Saturday evening.Acting swiftly, police rescued the child within 45 minutes, and later detained two suspects for questioning.According to police, the woman, a resident of Gajpur village, had gone to get medicine for her child.While returning home, the duo was hit by a speeding vehicle near their house.The two men inside the SUV allegedly picked up the toddler and fled, leaving the injured mother behind, triggering panic in the locality.Acting swiftly, police scanned CCTV footage, which revealed the vehicle’s registration number and issued a city-wide alert.The car was finally intercepted in the Sauhadaura area. While the driver of the car escaped, the child was rescued unharmed.Police have seized the vehicle and have detained two suspects for questioning.SP South, Dinesh Kumar Puri, said that all angles of the case are being thoroughly investigated. “Based on the CCTV footage, mobile location and interrogation of the suspects, the matter will be cracked soon. The absconding driver will also be arrested shortly,” he added.
