Hyderabad: Telangana Rakshana Sena (TRS) will contest in the upcoming Khairatabad by-elections. This will be the first election by TRS after the floating the party, TRS chief Kalvakuntla Kavitha said. Kavitha said there is a need to teach a democratic lesson to those who allow cross-floor defections, which subverts the Constitution and the law.Addressing a press meet at the party office on Saturday, Kavitha came down heavily on Revanth Reddy’s govt stating that the govt is entirely incompetent and a total failure. Demanding that those who cannot manage governance step aside immediately, Kavitha announced an open war against the govt over the systemic collapse of public education and healthcare.Expressing deep anguish over the recent tragedy at RIMS Adilabad, Kavitha stated that children were charred and suffered due entirely to the apathy of the govt. Sharing official data, she highlighted the alarming toll of infant mortality across the state: 6,000 deaths in 2020–21; 4,933 deaths in 2022–23; and 3,853 deaths in 2024–25. Whichever district one looks at, nearly 200 children have lost their lives. Even in Hyderabad , which the government promised to transform into New York and Dallas, 1,046 children died last year alone, she said.Kavitha criticized the govt’s budgetary failures, pointing out that while healthcare was promised 10% of the budget, only 5% is being given. Out of ₹13,192 crores allocated last year, a mere ₹9,242 crores were spent, leaving ₹3,000 crores unspent before fresh allocations of ₹1,900 crores were made, drawing severe reprimands from the CAG. Furthermore, 7 out of 11 health schemes have been given a zero budget, Aarogyasri arrears of ₹500 crores remain pending, NIMS requires Chief Minister intervention just to secure a bed with a 7-month wait for surgeries, and Niloufer Hospital is operating at 200% bed occupancy.Announcing direct action, Kavitha stated that TRS would now visit govt hospitals in every district. She urged the public and youth to inspect local medical facilities, document conditions with photographs, and question authorities, stating, “Let us fix the situation ourselves, even if we have to skin this government alive.”Kavitha demanded that private hospitals utilizing government-allotted land must strictly enforce the mandatory 25% free treatment quota for the poor.ends/
