Kasol rave party case: Kullu DC, SP transferred after SC order
Supreme Court on July 27 ordered that the Kullu DC and SP should be transferred

Shimla: Nine days after the Supreme Court directed the immediate transfer of Kullu deputy commissioner Anurag Chander Sharma and superintendent of police Madan Lal to ensure a fair investigation into the Kasol rave party case, the state govt on Wednesday issued their transfer orders. The govt also appointed 2019-batch IPS officer Abhishek Sekar as the new SP of Kullu, while ADC Surjeet Singh will hold the additional charge of the DC.Madan Lal has been instructed to report to the police headquarters in Shimla till his further posting. Similarly, Sharma’s new posting order is yet to be issued. The Himachal Pradesh high court, in its June 24 order, observed that officials appeared to have failed in preventing the events and allegedly facilitated the organisation of rave parties. The court also directed the registration of an FIR and formation of a special investigation team (SIT) headed by an officer of the DIG rank or above. The high court raised concerns over possible coordination between event organisers and officials, noting that permissions were granted despite warnings from a DSP about the risk of unauthorised activities, rave parties, and drug consumption. After the officials challenged the high court’s order in the Supreme Court, the apex court on July 27 stayed the directions related to filing of an FIR against them and the SIT probe. However, it maintained that both officers should be transferred immediately from Kullu. The case is listed for hearing before the high court on Thursday.
