Varanasi: Young fashion design talent Amit Kumar Singh from Sira Govardhanpur in Varanasi has brought laurels to the city by winning a Gold Medal and First Prize in the NIFT Meritorious Student Award at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Chennai. He also received a cash prize of Rs25,000.Amit completed the four-year Bachelor of Design (B.Des.) programme in Fashion Design–Knitwear Design from NIFT Chennai as part of the 2022-26 batch, securing an outstanding overall score of 95%.The awards were presented during the joint convocation of 18 NIFT campuses held at Yashobhoomi – India International Convention & Expo Centre in New Delhi. President Droupadi Murmu addressed the joint convocation on the occasion.A resident of Seer Govardhanpur, Amit demonstrated exceptional dedication, creativity and academic performance throughout his four-year course. His achievement has brought pride to his family as well as the people of his locality and Varanasi.
