Gandhinagar: The 24th edition of the Kanya Kelavani and Shala Praveshotsav will begin from Tuesday. The annual school enrolment drive of the state govt was started during the tenure of PM Narendra Modi as Gujarat’s chief minister.Chief minister Bhupendra Patel will lead the statewide Shala Praveshotsav from B N High School in Vadnagar, while deputy chief minister Harsh Sanghavi will participate in the campaign from a school in Adalaj, Gandhinagar district. Ministers and top govt officials will visit every district and oversee the enrolment drive.An official statement said that approximately 28.6 lakh children will be enrolled in 38,400 schools in the state during the three-day drive. Children who are above five years and below six years of age as on June 1 will be admitted to kindergarten, while children who are above six years and below seven years of age as on June 1 will be admitted to Class 1. In addition, students who have passed Class 8 (primary) will be admitted to Class 9 (secondary), and students who have passed Class 10 (secondary) will be admitted to Class 11 (higher secondary).
