Jind: The Sarvjatiya Kandela khap (social clan) has strongly condemned the police action against students during the recent protest at Jantar Mantar, alleging that the use of force against peaceful demonstrators reflects the centre’s failure to address issues concerning the education system.In a joint statement on Tuesday, Sarvjatiya (all-caste) Kandela khap president Om Prakash Kandela, press spokesperson Jagat Singh Redhu and general secretary Raj Singh Kandela said the students were protesting peacefully over issues related to their future, and that the Union govt should have accepted their demands instead of resorting to force. The khap also called for the resignation of Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan.The khap leaders accused the Narendra Modi-led government of pursuing failed policies in the education sector, and criticised the Centre over various national and international issues, including its handling of trade relations with the United States. They also alleged that the government’s policies were adversely affecting the morale of the country’s youth.Expressing support for the ongoing student agitation at Jantar Mantar, the Khap head said it stands with the students in their protest against what it termed the government’s “failed policies”. The organisation further demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the education minister resign on moral grounds.“The govt should not remain under the illusion that voices can be silenced through force,” the khap leaders said.
