New Delhi: A gang allegedly involved in trafficking women and forcing them into sex work at a GB Road brothel has been busted by Kamla Market police. Three women have been arrested and two alleged victims rescued, police said.The arrested trio have been identified as Geeta (55), Manju (58) and Paro Khatoon (29). They are originally from West Bengal, police said. The women were allegedly lured to Delhi on the pretext of employment and later forced into sex work.DCP (central) Rohit Rajbir Singh said of the two rescued women, one was a 26-year-old from West Bengal. She was missing since May 2. On Aug 25, she contacted her mother and told her that she was being confined in brothel number 58 on GB Road. Her mother contacted the women police post at Kamla Market the next day, following which a police team led by sub-inspector Kiran Sethi reached the premises and rescued her.During inquiry, the woman alleged that she was approached at a railway station in West Bengal by a man, whom she identified as Kalu (30), who offered her a job.He brought her to Delhi, took away her phone and sold her to Geeta, a brothel caretaker. Police said Geeta kept her at her residence for about a month before taking her to the brothel, where its owner, Reshma, forced her into sex work. Geeta and Manju took away her money.During the inquiry, another 28-year-old woman approached the women police post seeking help and was also rescued, police said.The second woman told police that about two years ago, following a quarrel with her husband and mother-in-law in West Bengal, she left home with her eight-year-old son. While on her way to Sealdah railway station, she met a woman who befriended her, offered food and drinks to her son and took them home on the pretext of helping them.The woman took them to New Delhi railway station the next day and later to Geeta’s residence.Geeta offered her a cleaning job at the brothel but subsequently forced her into sex work. She was threatened that her son would be harmed if she refused to work. Her earnings too were retained by Geeta and Manju.Police said her son was later taken to a hostel by Paro Khatoon. The mother was allowed to meet him only once every three to four months. Efforts are under way to trace the boy.Police said the three accused were also involved in a similar human trafficking and exploitation case registered at Kamla Market police station in 2025. They were out on bail in that case.
