Junior engineer suspended on Yamunanagar mayor’s suggestion
Electricity board JE faces action in Yamunanagar

Yamunanagar: A junior engineer of Yamunanagar-Jagadhri municipal corporation was suspended and action ordered against a JE of the electricity corporation following complaints raised during the municipal house meeting on Wednesday.The meeting, chaired by mayor Suman Bahmani, took up 44 proposals on city development, illegal colonies, pollution, traffic, sanitation, healthcare, streetlights, property tax and development works.MC members complained about the performance of an MC JE in creating property IDs and handling other assigned work. On the mayor’s recommendation, municipal commissioner Mahabir Prasad ordered his suspension.Action was also ordered against a power corporation JE for allegedly failing to repair a damaged electricity pole in Ward 3 for two months. The House also decided to debar an agency over poor-quality development work.Bahmani said some senior officials of other govt departments were not taking Municipal House meetings seriously and directed that show-cause notices be issued to officials who remained absent.Officials also apprised the House of action against illegal colonies and unauthorised constructions.Pollution Control Board officials said 160 challans had been issued and Rs 2.80 lakh collected in fines for single-use plastic violations in the past six months.An electricity corporation SDO said illegal cable wires had been removed from poles at 47 sites. DSP Rajat Gulia said police had registered 116 NDPS cases and arrested 216 accused this year so far. He added that 5,000 traffic challans had been issued, including 415 for no-parking violations.The House also approved development works worth crores of rupees.
