Kolkata: The Jadavpur University estate section on Wednesday started an audit of its staff quarters following complaints that a few quarters, allocated to staffers, are being rented to outsiders. There have also been complaints about allotment irregularities, such as more than one accommodation being allotted to one person.“The estate section is conducting the audit. The audit team will file a report in seven days. We will issue show-cause notices to those found involved,” said Debajit Dutta, acting registrar.A university insider said such an audit was conducted three years ago. “Some staffers live outside the campus but rent out their quarters to relatives or contractual staffers. Some also got their quarters allegedly in exchange for money,” the insider said.
