Gorakhpur: Chief minister Yogi Adityanatha on Saturday inaugurated and laid foundation stone of 319 development projects worth over Rs 295 crore in Chillupar Assembly constituency, asserting that eastern UP is emerging as a majorhub of industry, employment and infrastructure.Addressing a public gathering at Gandhi Inter College in Mahuapar, Barhalganj, the chief minister said the region, once known for migration because of floods and poor connectivity, is now witnessing rapid development. “The youth who earlier had to travel far in search of jobs will now find employment opportunities at home. The time will come when people from other places will come here to work,” he said.Highlighting industrial growth, Adityanath said a CNG plant has already been established at the site of the closed Dhuriyapar sugar mill, while a cement factory, power plant, modern paint unit and an advanced distillery are also proposed in the area. He added that government is developed Greater GIDA industrial zone and has already received investment proposals worth thousands of crores.The chief minister credited the BJP-led “double-engine govt” for improving roads, connectivity and employment opportunities. He noted that Chillupar is now well connected through the Gorakhpur-Varanasi four-lane highway and the Purvanchal Expressway link corridor.Taking a swipe at previous govts, Adityanath alleged that before 2017, jobs, contracts and development works were influenced by corruption and political patronage. He claimed that youths from eastern UP often faced discrimination outside the state due to the region’s image of lawlessness.Referring to the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, he said the project became possible only under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership and BJP got in UP. He urged people to continue supporting development-oriented governance.
