Shimla: Chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Monday directed the health department to allow job trainee doctors to pursue postgraduate and super-speciality courses, saying the move would help strengthen healthcare services in Himachal Pradesh.Sukhu said the duration and amount of bonds would be enhanced to ensure doctors return to the state after completing their courses.Chairing a review meeting of the health department, Sukhu directed govt medical colleges to digitise data on MRI, CT scan, X-ray and ultrasound examinations by Oct 20.He also ordered them to submit department-wise requirements of nurses and technicians to expedite recruitment.An expert committee will identify two to four departments in each govt medical college, including AIMSS Chamiana, for development as Centres of Excellence. The govt also plans overseas exposure visits for medical students, Sukhu added.
