JMC rolls out electric garbage hoppers in newly added areas
JMC’s EV hoppers begins garbage collection in Jhotwara Zone

Jaipur: Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC), Tuesday, launched door-to-door garbage collection using electric hopper vehicles in newly added panchayat areas of Wards 25 and 26 under the Jhotwara Zone, marking the expansion of civic sanitation services following the recent ward delimitation. In the first phase, JMC has deployed 25 electric hopper vehicles to collect household waste from localities that have recently come under the municipal corporation’s jurisdiction. Each vehicle has a carrying capacity of 1,000 kg and a hopper capacity of 3.5 cubic metres. Officials said the vehicles can travel up to 100 km on a single charge, making them suitable for daily waste collection operations. The civic body said the initiative is aimed at ensuring regular and efficient solid waste collection in areas that were previously outside the city’s municipal limits. With the inclusion of these villages under JMC, residents will now receive door-to-door waste collection services similar to those available in other parts of Jaipur. To further strengthen the system, the corporation will conduct a month-long field survey to assess waste generation and sanitation requirements in the newly added areas. Based on the findings, additional electric hopper vehicles will be deployed wherever necessary to improve coverage and operational efficiency.Officials said the move will help streamline waste collection, strengthen solid waste management, and ensure uniform sanitation services across all areas incorporated into the municipal limits after the delimitation exercise.
