Jaipur: Ahead of the Swachh Survekshan survey, the Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC) Wednesday launched an early-morning enforcement drive in Jhotwara and Vaishali Nagar zones to remove illegal aerial wires and unauthorised crossings from civic electricity poles.Officials said the operation began at 5am and was part of efforts to improve the city’s cleanliness and visual appeal ahead of the Swachh Survekshan 2025–26 assessment.During the drive, teams removed unauthorised wires installed on municipal poles by telecom operators and cable service providers.Officials said the action aimed to clear public infrastructure of illegal overhead cabling that affects both urban aesthetics and civic management.JMC commissioner Om Kasera said removals were carried out along Gandhi Path Road, Lalarpura Road, Girdharipura Road and Gajsinghpura Road. He added that vigilance teams will conduct regular patrols to prevent reinstallation of unauthorised cables.Deputy commissioner (Revenue-I) Manoj Kumar Verma said the licensing branch will continue action against firms installing cables without permission, and legal proceedings will be initiated against violators.“Legal proceedings will also continue against the service provider firms found responsible for unauthorized installations. The coordinated action is aimed at maintaining cleaner roadsides, reduce visual clutter and strengthen enforcement against illegal use of civic infrastructure as Jaipur prepares for the next round of national cleanliness assessment,” said Verma.
