Guwahati: JSW Group chairman Sajjan Jindal has donated Rs 5 crore to the CM’S Relief Fund for Assam flood victims without making a public announcement, drawing praise from CM Himanta Biswa Sarma.Sarma said on X that neither the govt nor his office had been informed about the contribution, which officials discovered while reviewing the relief fund’s bank statements on Wednesday morning.“This morning, I was deeply touched by the generosity of Shri @sajjanjindal of @jswsteel, who quietly and without any intimation transferred ₹5 crore to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to support those affected by the devastating floods,” Sarma wrote.“There was no announcement, no communication — just a silent act of compassion,” he added.Expressing gratitude on behalf of the people of Assam, Sarma thanked Jindal for his “humility and magnanimity.”The chief minister also noted that Jindal’s mother, Savitri Jindal, chairperson emeritus of the OP Jindal Group, hailed from Assam, making the contribution particularly meaningful to the state.
