Jind: Jind’s khap panchayats on Sunday announced a social boycott of those involved in marriages within the same village, among members of the same gotra, or between neighbouring villages.As many as 23 of the 25 khaps of Jind participated in a meeting at the traditional Chabutra in Kandela village on Sunday. The meeting was chaired by Kandela Khap president Om Prakash Kandela.The meeting also passed a condemnation resolution against BJP MP Kangana Ranaut over the alleged use of the term “gutter generation” for students. The representatives said that if required, an FIR would also be registered against the MP.The khaps announced that committees would be constituted at the village level to implement and strengthen their decisions on social issues.Another major decision was a complete ban on loud DJ music, boycott of artists promoting songs associated with vulgarity and gun culture.Khap representatives said they were not opposed to love or inter-state marriages but would not accept marriages between people from villages under the same khap jurisdiction, warning that such couples could be asked to leave the villages.
