JDA to build culvert to ease traffic at OTS Chauraha
Construction of culvert going on in full swing on the stretch connecting JLN Marg and Gopalpura Bypass Road

Jaipur: Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) has begun constructing a 100-metre, two-lane culvert on Himmat Nagar Road to ease congestion at OTS Chauraha and improve connectivity between Malviya Nagar and Gopalpura Bypass Road. The new link will allow vehicles coming from Jawahar Circle to reach Gopalpura Bypass Road without crossing the busy JLN Marg intersection at OTS Chauraha.A JDA engineer said the culvert would be around 14 metre wide. With the road widened, the entire stretch between JLN Marg and Gopalpura Bypass Road will have a width of 60 feet, allowing smoother two-way movement. The sector road running alongside the Agra-Jaipur railway tracks is already in place, but its narrow width, uneven slope and recurring waterlogging during rain have disrupted traffic. Currently, the road is about seven metre wide, forcing motorists to slow down or avoid the stretch when water accumulates. The culvert is expected to improve drainage and provide an alternative route for commuters, reducing pressure on OTS Chauraha. The traffic wing of Jaipur Commissionerate has imposed restrictions on vehicle movement along the road during construction.JDA has allocated around Rs 1.5 crore for the project. Officials said the widened corridor would improve daily connectivity for commuters travelling between adjoining neighbourhoods. The project is aimed at providing a smoother route for vehicles heading towards Gopalpura Bypass Road, while reducing congestion at the busy intersection.FOR GPHX, IF NEEDED
