Jantar Mantar protest today: Traffic curbs, diversions announced; check affected routes
Movement on Jantar Mantar Road will be restricted or diverted, and motorists have been advised to use alternate routes.

NEW DELHI: Delhi Traffic Police has issued a traffic advisory for October 2, warning commuters of restrictions and regulated movement around Jantar Mantar and adjoining areas.The advisory comes amid a proposed protest at Jantar Mantar against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, demanding his resignation. Security has also been tightened in the national capital ahead of the proposed protest.The advisory said commuters and motorists should plan their journeys in advance and avoid the affected stretches wherever feasible. Traffic diversions and regulations will be in place around Connaught Place, Patel Chowk, GPO, Tolstoy Marg, Jantar Mantar Road, Parliament Street and adjoining roads.Traffic diversions, restrictions around Jantar MantarAccording to the advisory, traffic from Connaught Place towards Patel Chowk will be diverted through alternate routes as directed by traffic personnel, while movement from Patel Chowk towards GPO will be regulated or diverted at appropriate points.Traffic movement on Tolstoy Marg will also be regulated or diverted, with commuters advised to avoid the stretch wherever possible. Movement on Jantar Mantar Road will be restricted or diverted, and motorists have been advised to use alternate routes.The traffic police has also advised the public to avoid Jantar Mantar, Parliament Street, Ashoka Road and adjoining roads wherever possible.Motorists advised to plan alternate routesBarricading and traffic diversions may be put in place in the affected areas, and commuters should expect increased travel time on adjoining roads.Motorists travelling towards Connaught Place, Patel Chowk, GPO, Parliament Street and Central Delhi have been advised to plan alternate routes in advance, allow additional travel time and follow the directions of Delhi Traffic Police personnel deployed on the roads.The advisory also said stopping or parking vehicles on or near the regulated stretches is prohibited and may further disrupt traffic movement.Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) will remain applicable in the specified area as per the orders of the competent authority. The public has been advised to comply with directions issued by the competent authorities and on-ground personnel.The Delhi Traffic Police has urged motorists to remain patient, follow traffic rules and cooperate with personnel deployed in the area. Commuters have also been advised to follow diversion signs and traffic directions to avoid congestion.
