tnnJaipur: Jaipur Police Monday solved the murder of a five-year-old girl within 48 hours of the crime and arrested her neighbour, who allegedly killed the child as she did not like that the girl’s mother talked to her husband. The accused also had an old water dispute with the victim’s mother.The crime occurred Saturday in Shri Shyam Vatika Colony under the Harmada police station area. According to police, the girl’s father had gone to work in the morning when his wife informed him around 1 pm that their daughter was missing. The family and locals searched extensively before alerting the police.During investigation, police found that the victim frequently visited the house of her neighbour Gudiya Devi (30) and played with her children. CCTV footage showed the girl entering the accused’s residence but never coming out, prompting police to search the house.The child’s body was recovered wrapped in a blanket and hidden inside a divan in the accused’s house.Police said Gudiya Devi suspected that the victim’s mother used to speak with her husband, Afroz alias Firoz Khan, over the phone and wanted to make her suffer.According to investigators, the accused allegedly smothered the child to death, concealed the body inside the divan and planned to dump it in a nearby forest during night to divert suspicion. Further investigation is underway.
