Jaipur: Police arrested a 28-year-old man for allegedly murdering a fellow villager after a minor dispute over a bottle carried for open defecation. The accused, Chandrashekhar, a resident of Harchandpura village under Chandwaji police station limits, is accused of killing Rakesh Jat on June 6 when an argument escalated.According to police, Chandrashekhar allegedly stabbed Rakesh multiple times, then dragged the body to a nearby riverbed. Investigators said he buried the body in a pit and covered it with soil to hide the crime.Police said the accused stayed in the village for three days after the incident before fleeing to Andhra Pradesh with his girlfriend, allegedly to mislead investigators.Rakesh’s disappearance led to a month-long investigation. Police deployed FSL teams and dog squads, retraced the victim’s last movements, analysed mobile phone records, and questioned several villagers. Officials said circumstantial and electronic evidence pointed to Chandrashekhar, who was placed under surveillance and later detained.During interrogation, police said Chandrashekhar allegedly confessed and revealed the burial location, leading to the recovery of the body.Jaipur Rural SP Hanuman Prasad formed a 25-member special investigation team. Police said the investigation established the motive as a trivial quarrel over the bottle, highlighting how a minor dispute allegedly turned fatal.
