Jaipur: Police arrested two persons, including the contractor, and rounded up a juvenile Monday in the case for killing a 25-year-old tile worker who was allegedly beaten to death with an iron rod during a dispute over a payment of Rs 1200 in Jaipur Sunday night.The incident occurred in the Muhana area after the victim, who had been drinking with a friend, went to a contractor’s house to demand pending payment. Muhana SHO Mukesh Khardiya said the deceased was identified as Sachin Verma, a resident of Neem Ka Thana in Sikar district.“He was working as a tile installer and had come to visit his friend Aapi, who lives in the Ring Road area of Muhana, on Sunday. The two friends reportedly consumed alcohol at Aapi’s house during the evening. During their conversation, Aapi allegedly told Sachin that contractor Budhram (25) had not cleared their payment for tile work. Around 11 pm, Sachin and Aapi went to Budhram’s residence to ask for the money,” said Khardia.Police said the investigation suggested that it was a dispute over Rs 1200, which was to be paid by Budhram to Sachin and Aapi for the tile work.“As both wanted their money, an argument broke out between Sachin and Budhram over the pending payment. The situation escalated when Sachin allegedly assaulted the contractor during the altercation. Seeing the fight, Budhram’s two nephews intervened. One of them, identified as Kishan (20), allegedly attacked Sachin with an iron rod, striking him on the head. Sachin suffered a severe head injury and collapsed on the ground in a pool of blood,” said police.On receiving information about the clash, Muhana police reached the spot and rushed Sachin to Mahatma Gandhi Hospital. However, doctors examined him and declared him dead.“After interrogation, we have arrested Budhram the contractor and his nephew including Kishan (20) on Tuesday. Also, another nephew who is a juvenile has been rounded up,” said an officer.Police said the exact sequence of events and the role of each person involved would be established during the investigation.“We have to recover the iron rod which was hit on the head of the deceased,” said an officer.
