Jaipur: District collector Sandesh Nayak Friday launched an awareness drive against dengue and other seasonal diseases by cleaning air coolers at the district collectorate in Bani Park, signalling a renewed focus on eliminating mosquito breeding at the source.As part of the campaign, the collectorate will carry out ‘source reduction activities’ every Friday across govt offices. The exercise will include regular inspection and cleaning of air coolers, water tanks, flowerpots, scrap material and other locations where water can stagnate. Nayak also urged private institutions to adopt the same weekly routine.“The most effective measure to prevent dengue is to eliminate mosquito breeding sites.

I appeal to residents of the district to observe a ‘dry day’ every Sunday. On this day, households should empty and clean their coolers, wash and dry water containers, and ensure no water stagnates anywhere, preventing mosquito breeding,” Nayak said.He said the success of the campaign would depend on public participation and urged govt depts, institutions and residents to support the initiative through sustained weekly action.“If every citizen dedicates just 10 minutes a week to cleaning their home and surroundings, serious illnesses like dengue can be effectively controlled,” he said.
