JAIPUR: A 57-year-old man died in a hit-and-run accident in the Sanganer police station area on Saturday morning after a speeding car allegedly collided with his scooter. The incident occurred near the Hanuman Temple, close to the Choolgiri Restaurant area.Police on Monday said that efforts are on to arrest the accused, who is on the run.According to police, the deceased, identified as Naval Sharma, a resident of Chaudhary Nagar in Buddhi Singhpura, Sanganer, had left his home at around 6 a.m. on Saturday on his scooter for work. “While he was riding near the Hanuman Temple, a speeding black car allegedly hit his scooter. He sustained fatal injuries in the collision,” said an officer of Sanganer police station.Police were informed about the accident and reached the spot, where they found him injured. He was subsequently taken for medical treatment, but he succumbed to his injuries.The driver of the car allegedly fled the spot without stopping after the collision. Police later spotted footage of the black-coloured vehicle on a CCTV camera installed in the area.Following the incident, police began collecting recordings from other CCTV cameras around the accident site to trace the vehicle and identify the driver. “We are examining the CCTV footage to determine the route taken by the car after the accident and establish the identity of those travelling in it,” the officer added.Police have also started an investigation and registered a case in connection with the incident.After the post-mortem examination, Sharma’s body was handed over to his family members on Sunday.Police officials said efforts are underway to identify and locate the vehicle involved in the collision.
