Sonipat: With the Sonipat Municipal Corporation elections scheduled for May 10, the Haryana State Election Commission has stepped up preparations to ensure a free, fair and fear-free voting process. As per senior officials, 2011-batch IPS officer and joint commissioner of police (JCP) Rajendra Kumar Meena has been appointed as the police observer to oversee law and order during the polls.According to district electoral officer and deputy commissioner Neha Singh, the police observer’s office has been set up at the rest house of Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University of Science and Technology (DCRUST) in Murthal. This will serve as a central point for addressing election-related complaints and security concerns. In a citizen-friendly initiative, Meena will hold daily public hearings from 11 am to 12 noon at the DCRUST rest house, where voters and candidates can directly present their grievances. The administration believes this step will ensure swift, on-the-spot resolution of complaints and strengthen public confidence in the electoral process. To further enhance transparency, an official contact number — 74194-10501 — has been made public. Citizens can report any instances of malpractice, violation of the Model Code of Conduct or security-related emergencies through this number.
