Guwahati: CM Himanta Biswa Sarma has directed ministers to inform and involve local MLAs during visits to their constituencies.The directive follows instances of legislators being left uninformed or excluded from ministerial field visits. It aims to improve coordination between ministers and elected representatives.“It has been observed that during certain field visits undertaken by ministers, the concerned members of the legislative assembly (MLA) representing the constituencies are not always intimated or involved. As a matter of good practice, ministers may ensure that the local MLAs are informed in advance of their visits to the respective constituencies,” read the directive signed by the CM.It also said local MLAs may be invited to join and participate in public programmes and events attended by ministers.“In respect of departmental meetings or official reviews where the presence of MLAs is not required, the concerned MLAs may still be courteously informed in advance,” the directive added.The practice, it said, would strengthen coordination between the govt and elected representatives and facilitate the smooth conduct of official engagements.
