Hyderabad: An inspector in the Jubilee Hills zone was suspended on Tuesday night for alleged sexual harassment, extortion and threatening an information technology (IT) professional, a married woman.On the IT employee’s complaint to director-general of police (DGP) CV Anand, an inquiry was initiated and, based on the inquiry report, Hyderabad police commissioner VC Sajjanar suspended the inspector late on Tuesday.In her complaint, the woman said that in Dec 2021, due to her family problems, she approached the inspector, who was then the station house officer (SHO) of the Ameenpur police station. He solved her problems. Subsequently, he used to message and call her, allegedly on the pretext of inquiring whether she was fine, the complaint said.After a few months, he contacted her and informed her that he wanted to talk to her personally. “He claimed that he liked me and threatened me to get into a relationship with him. If I fail to meet his demand, he threatened to trouble me,” the complainant alleged in her complaint to the DGP.The woman claimed that she was sexually abused on several occasions over a period of time. He allegedly threatened to defame her in her native place by leaking videos and photographs if she revealed his deeds. She accused him of also taking money on several occasions, all through online payments.The DGP referred her complaint to the Hyderabad police commissioner to inquire into the allegations. The inspector was kept away from official duties for the last two days.
