Bhilwara: Three videos showing inmates dancing, consuming intoxicants and taking selfies, purportedly inside Chittorgarh district jail, have gone viral on social media, prompting jail authorities and police to launch separate investigations Friday.The first video, which surfaced Thursday evening, shows over a dozen inmates sitting together and sharing food. A second clip appears to show prisoners consuming intoxicants, while a third captures a group dancing inside jail premises.Several of the prisoners seen in the videos are accused in a murder case, while a few are history-sheeters, officials said.The videos surfaced less than a month after the June 29 murder of gangster Jagan Gurjar inside Ajmer Central Jail, raising fresh concerns over prison security in Rajasthan.Chittorgarh Jail superintendent Narendra Swami said an inquiry was initiated immediately after the videos came to light. “We are investigating how mobile phones and intoxicants got inside the jail. Strict departmental action will be initiated against anyone – including guards and other jail staff – found guilty,” he said.Chittorgarh superintendent of police Dharmendra Singh said jail authorities conducted a search operation inside the facility Friday and seized two mobile phones. Based on their complaint, an FIR has been registered against eight inmates and an investigation has been launched.
