Agartala: The explosion at a flat in Ramnagar, Agartala, has claimed its first life. Shubhrajit Choudhury, who suffered critical injuries in the blast on Thursday, died at Agartala Govt Medical College on Friday despite treatment.CM Manik Saha expressed condolences and ordered an inquiry into the incident. The powerful blast severely damaged the flat and nearby residences, injured several people and caused panic in the locality.Saha, along with Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Dipak Majumdar, visited the site, inspected the damaged flats, spoke with residents and eyewitnesses, and reviewed the extent of the destruction. He assured affected families of govt support and said all necessary assistance would be provided to those impacted.The CM said the investigation will examine all possible causes, including a suspected gas leak, and will also determine whether Tripura Natural Gas Company Limited (TNGCL) has any responsibility. Residents also sought an update on the investigation into a similar blast reported nearly a year ago near Fire Brigade Chowmuhani.Experts said a detailed forensic examination is essential to identify the cause, detect safety lapses and put measures in place to prevent such incidents. Residents have demanded accountability and stronger safety safeguards for apartment buildings across Tripura.
