Rajkot: Early on Saturday morning, a young male lion estimated to be one to two years old was rescued in the Grofed area of Junagadh city. The animal suffered an injury when its hind leg got trapped in an iron gate during an attempt to jump over it.A team from the Junagadh forest department and Sakkarbaug zoo swiftly arrived at the location after receiving an alert. Junagadh deputy conservator of forests (DCF) Akshay Joshi noted that by following established safety protocols and employing expert rescue techniques, the teams successfully freed the lion without causing any further injury. The lion cub was tranquillised and successfully rescued.The injured lion was promptly transferred to Sakkarbaug Zoo to receive specialised veterinary care and treatment. Wildlife veterinarians are currently treating the animal, whose condition is reported to be stable, and the cub remains under continuous observation to ensure a full recovery.“The forest department remains committed to the protection and conservation of wildlife and continues to maintain a rapid response system to ensure the safety and well-being of wild animals in such emergencies,” stated Joshi.
