Infant’s body exhumed in Nuh after 3 months after murder allegations

Gurgaon: Police on Wednesday exhumed the body of an infant, buried three months ago in Nuh, to investigate murder allegations made by the child’s paternal grandfather against the mother and her family.According to police, Akhtar, a resident of Jaitaka village, married his daughter Afsana to Sahil of Sokh village in 2023. Sahil died in a road accident in Sept 2025 while Afsana was pregnant. She gave birth to the boy in Nov and moved in with her parents in Jaitaka.Differences later arose between Afsana and her in-laws. The infant allegedly fell ill and died on March 5. Sahil’s father, Shamshad, arrived in Jaitaka with several villagers, took custody of the body and buried the child in Sokh.A month later, Shamshad filed a complaint with Nagina police accusing Afsana, her parents and her brother of killing the baby. Police opened an inquiry and sought the SP’s permission to exhume the body.“The body was exhumed from a graveyard in Sokh in the presence of administrative officials and sent to Shaheed Hasan Khan Mewati Govt Medical College for a postmortem,” a police officer said.
