Hyderabad: Unlike the previous housing projects for the lower income groups which mostly came up in the city outskirts, the Indiramma LIG housing towers of 10-storeyed each are going to come up in prime locations in the city where the land cost has sky-rocketed.For example, as many as 480 flats in four towers of 10-storeyed each will come up in the IT corridor of Raidurg. The site for this project, a 2.9 acre land parcel is located just two kilometres away from the layout in which an acre was recently sold for a record Rs 237 crore. This Indiramma housing site in Raidurg is located two kilometres away from Durgam Cheruvu and a furlong from Aparna and Raghava towers.“All the land sites for the Indiramma LIG housing project belong to the Telangana Housing Board. They are all prime locations. Recently , an auction conducted for housing board land got a highest bid price of Rs 2.15 lakh per square yard. This site is located within a half kilometre distance from the Raidurg Indiramma housing site,” said housing board executive engineer (north division) G Vani.Likewise, other sites for Indiramma LIG towers include Jubilee Hills near MLA colony, Red Hills, Mahendra Hills, Patigadda, KPHB Colony, Bowenpally, Pocharam, Kowkur and Amberpet to name a few. The site at Jubilee Hills near MLAs colony is spread over 2.87 acres where four towers will be built, each tower having 120 flats.Housing minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy said a total of 7680 flats will be constructed in 16 locations falling under 16 assembly constituencies. “The beneficiaries of Indiramma LIG housing project in the CURE area will get an undivided share of land too, which would be registered in their names. The beneficiaries will get lakhs of rupees worth land and a flat of 400 sq feet carpet area on payment of Rs just Rs 6 lakh,” Ponguleti said.Rajendernagar, Maheshwaram, Serilingampally, Ibrahimpatnam, Malkajgiri, Nampally, Khairatabad, Karwan, Bahadurpura, Amberpet, Kukatpally, Medchal, Quthbullapur, Sanathnagar, Secunderabad Cantonment and Malakpet are the 16 assembly constituencies.According to Housing Board vice chairman and commissioner V P Gautham, there is already a huge response as over 19,000 applications have been submitted so far for Indiramma LIG flats. The number of applications are expected to go up as some of the eligibility criteria has been relaxed and the last date for submission of applications is August 10. Though there is a demand to extend the last date, a final call will be taken by housing minister Ponguleti.Gautham said the reason behind selection of prime locations is that a large number of beneficiaries were not going and staying in the housing units allotted to them in the city outskirts. “After a study, it was decided that the LIG flats should be within the radius of 5 to 7 kilometres from the workplaces of the beneficiaries. Now, the beneficiaries living in 5 to 7 km radius will be given priority in allotment of LIG flats in their respective assembly constituencies,” Gautham said.Minister Ponguleti said in addition to Aadhaar card, applicants can also submit voter ID, driving licence, bank passbook as the proof of they being continuous residents of Greater Hyderabad and CURE area to apply for Indiramma LIG housing flats. This decision was taken following large spread representations from the people. The govt wants the towers’ construction completed in a year from the day the construction begins on the ground.ends
