Ahmedabad: The Ahmedabad division of the Western Railway is set to become fully equipped with Kavach 4.0 after Indian Railways approved the expansion of the indigenous train protection system across the remaining sections of the division. The latest sanction covers installation on 598km spanning 48 block sections, at an estimated cost of Rs 140 crore, as part of a wider programme to deploy Kavach with LTE-based communication networks on routes across the national rail system.Divisional railway manager Ved Prakash said Kavach works were approved for 702km in the Ahmedabad division. With the new approval, the remaining rail stretches will also come under Kavach coverage, taking the division’s total protected network to around 1,300km. The move positions Ahmedabad as a fully Kavach 4.0-enabled division.Kavach is an advanced, domestically developed automatic train protection system designed to strengthen operational safety.
