Rohtak: The Congress on Wednesday staged a protest over the police action against the protest in Jantar Mantar and the detention of party leader Rahul Gandhi. However, BJP Haryana president Archana Gupta reached the protest venue outside Congress Bhawan near Ambedkar Bhawan, sparking tension between the two sides as workers came face-to-face. The situation led to heated sloganeering and verbal confrontations, while a heavy police presence was deployed to maintain law and order.Workers from both sides raised slogans against each other, leading to a tense standoff. A large contingent of police personnel remained deployed throughout the protest to prevent any untoward incident.BJP leaders also staged a brief sit-in protest at Ambedkar Chowk while continuing their demonstrations.Addressing the gathering, Gupta questioned the Congress’ concern for NEET aspirants. She alleged that if the Congress was concerned about students, Rahul Gandhi should not have spent 24 days abroad.Gupta said whenever any paper was leaked during, corrective action was taken. She said the BJP accepted responsibility, cancelled the leaked exam within five days and conducted the re-examination within 37 days.Gupta also accused Congress of blocking the Prime Minister’s route on Tuesday and compromising his security. “Opposition MPs should be participating in parliamentary debates instead of protesting on the streets,” she said.Responding to the BJP ‘s allegations, Haryana Congress spokesperson Rakesh Garg accused the BJP govt of adopting an “authoritarian” approach.He alleged that police resorted to baton charges and tear gas against youths protesting at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, triggering widespread public anger across the country.Garg claimed that the nation was witnessing an “undeclared emergency ” under the current govt and reiterated the Congress’s demand for the resignation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
