Madonna transforms the Beverly Hills estate
The property changed considerably during Madonna’s ownership. The singer undertook extensive renovation work, eventually expanding the estate into a larger private compound.By 2010, the renovation was complete. The finished property covered approximately 1.25 acres and featured a 17,000-square-foot main residence. The compound included nine bedrooms and two guesthouses, along with a swimming pool and tennis court. Inside the main house were several entertainment and lifestyle spaces, including a screening room, gym, art studio, bar and a two-story dining room. The extensive work meant the property Madonna eventually put on the market was considerably different from the estate she had purchased at the beginning of the decade.
When Madonna listed the property for sale
After owning the Beverly Hills estate for almost 10 years, Madonna decided to put it on the market in 2013.The property was initially offered privately before appearing on the Multiple Listing Service with an asking price of $22.5 million. Its gated setting, large grounds and numerous amenities added to its appeal. The Los Angeles Times described the property as having a long, tree-lined driveway leading toward the residence. The estate’s size also offered the privacy generally associated with high-end celebrity properties. With the main house, guest residences and recreational facilities spread across the grounds, the property had become a substantial compound by the time it was listed.
