Prajakta Koli is preparing to say goodbye to one of the most important roles of her acting career. The actor, creator and author will return as Dimple Ahuja in the final season of Netflix’s ‘Mismatched’, but the farewell already feels emotional for her. The young adult romance series gave Prajakta her first lead role in a streaming show and made Dimple a familiar name among younger viewers. As the final season moves closer to shoot, she says the thought of leaving the set has already started sinking in.
Prajakta Koli on ‘Mismatched’ final season
Speaking to Hindustan Times, Prajakta said she feels both excited and nervous about the end of the show. “I am equal parts excited and terrified of how I am going to deal with my last day on that set,” she said. “I have been Dimple for almost seven years now. I am dreading each day that passes because it takes me closer to the final day. I am going to cry my eyes out and hug everybody.”
The final season of ‘Mismatched’ was announced at the Next on Netflix event in Mumbai in February 2026. The new chapter will bring Dimple and Rishi back into each other’s lives after an emotional goodbye. The story will follow their unresolved feelings and ask whether they were truly mismatched or only separated by timing.Prajakta said the team did not expect the show to connect so strongly with young viewers. “That was an eye-opener for all of us,” she said. “Everyone was pretty much new. When we were shooting Mismatched, we would talk about how it had the vibe of Dill Mill Gayye or Miley Jab Hum Tum. It had been so long since those types of shows were on TV. Mismatched opened opportunities for me to explore the genre.”
Prajakta Koli’s Marathi film and upcoming projects
Prajakta recently made her Marathi cinema debut with ‘Krantijyoti Vidyalay Marathi Madhyam’. She said the film felt personal because Marathi is her mother tongue. “The Marathi film came about through Kshiti Jog and Hemant Dhome, the producers,” she said. “Kshiti played my mother in Mismatched. I love Marathi cinema; it’s my mother tongue, and I did Marathi theatre for a long time. Moving into this was a new universe for me, but Kshiti narrated the story, and I was fully serious about it.”She added, “I could not have had a better first Marathi movie.”The actor also continues to explore theater. “I love feeding off live energy,” Prajakta said. “Theatre is a great place for that, which is why I asked Akarsh Khurana to let me know if he was doing a play.”Her upcoming work includes ‘Operation Safed Sagar’, ‘Single Papa’ season 2 and the final season of ‘Mismatched’. “It’s so exciting,” she said. “I am writing until June, then I start shooting Mismatched. I also have Operation Safed Sagar, where I have a small but beautiful character, and another project called Single Papa.”‘Mismatched’ stars Rohit Saraf, Prajakta Koli, Vidya Malvade, Rannvijay Singha, Ahsaas Channa, Taaruk Raina, Muskkaan Jaferi and Abhinav Sharma.
