Gurgaon: Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) on Monday demolished a two-storey showroom being constructed illegally on its acquired land in Sector 39, officials said. The demolition was carried out in the presence of police personnel and no resistance was reported from the occupants or those involved in the construction.The HSVP demolition squad reached the site around noon with police personnel. The construction was coming up on acquired land belonging to Jharsa village and covered nearly 250 square yards.Officials said labourers working at the site were asked to leave before the demolition operation began. A bulldozer was then deployed to pull down the under-construction structure. The nearly three-hour operation brought the building down to rubble.An official said HSVP had been issuing notices to the person carrying out the construction since work began. Despite the notices, the person, a resident of Jharsa village, continued with the construction and had raised a two-storey structure on the acquired land.“Despite repeated notices, the construction continued and a two-storey building had been raised. The structure was demolished on Monday,” he said.The official said compensation for the land had already been paid, making the construction on the acquired parcel unauthorised. The HSVP action comes amid efforts to prevent encroachment and unauthorised construction on land acquired by the authority.Another official said some land surrounding the demolished structure was also part of the area acquired by HSVP. The authority will conduct a survey of the adjoining parcels to identify any other unauthorised construction or encroachment. “A survey will be conducted soon, and notices will be issued before demolition action is taken wherever unauthorised construction is found,” he said.
