HYDERABAD: Telangana high court on Wednesday sought a response from the Centre on a petition filed by the parents of a Hyderabad student who has been missing in Finland for over a month, amid allegations that authorities have failed to make meaningful progress in tracing him.Justice B Vijaysen Reddy issued notices to the Union govt, embassy of India in Finland, its consular wing, state police and the authorities concerned on a plea filed by the parents of Gujja Manideep Reddy, a resident of Hayathnagar.The court posted the matter to June 24. Manideep, a student of LUT University in Finland, has reportedly been missing since May 6. His parents, Gujja Marnatha and Muthyam Reddy, approached the HC alleging that despite repeated complaints, no action had been taken to trace their son.They sought directions to theauthorities to pursue the matter with the competent authorities in Finland through appropriate diplomatic and consular channels.According to the petition, Manideep had gone to Finland in March 2025 for an undergraduate programme. Recalling their last conversation with him, Marnatha told the court: “He also asked me to send some money. Even to his roommates, he told them that he was going out and would return soon.”“We are worried for his safety. Even authorities are also not responding well to the grievance,” their counsel submitted before the court.Appearing for the Centre, standing counsel NVR Rajya Lakshmi informed the court that a case had already been registered by the local police in Finland and that the investigation was underway.“The family has been updated about the investigation till May 29. Further details would be ascertained from the authorities,” she said.
