HYDERABAD: The fatal Aston Martin crash outside Inorbit Mall that claimed the life of a 26-year-old woman has brought Jana Sena Party Rajya Sabha MP Lingamaneni Ramesh’s son, Lingamaneni Sanjush, into focus.Sanjush, 21, has been named in the road accident case registered by Madhapur police after Bharati Mukhi, a salesgirl at Lifestyle store in Inorbit Mall, was fatally struck by the speeding high-end vehicle while crossing the road on August 16.According to the FIR, Sanjush was allegedly driving the Aston Martin at high speed and in a rash and negligent manner when the car hit Bharati at around 3pm. Police have registered a case under Section 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which deals with causing death by a rash or negligent act not amounting to culpable homicide.Who is Lingamaneni SanjushSanjush is the son of Lingamaneni Ramesh, a Rajya Sabha member from the Jana Sena Party led by Andhra Pradesh deputy chief minister Pawan Kalyan.At 21, Sanjush is associated with two companies operating in the energy and power sectors — Black Ridge Energy Private Limited and Capital Energy Private Limited — where he is listed as a director.He studied computer science at the University of Texas at Dallas, according to information available about his educational background.What happened in the Hyderabad crashAccording to the FIR lodged by Lifestyle store manager Panjala Ashwin Kumar, Bharati and her colleague Pooja Ashok Alone, both 26, had gone near ITC Kohenur to collect food.The two were returning towards the mall when Bharati was allegedly struck by the Aston Martin, bearing registration number TG-09-G-0666, while crossing the road opposite Inorbit Mall.The FIR states that Bharati suffered a severe bleeding injury to her head. She was taken to Apollo Hospital in Jubilee Hills in the same car, where doctors declared her dead.Pooja subsequently informed the store manager about the accident, following which he reached the hospital and later approached the police.Who owns the Aston MartinPolice records cited in the case show that the Aston Martin involved in the accident is registered in the name of Honor Prime Housing LLP.The circumstances in which Sanjush was driving the vehicle at the time of the accident are part of the ongoing investigation.Madhapur police said no arrest had been made because the offence registered in the case is bailable and carries a maximum punishment of less than seven years.Madhapur ACP Ch Sridhar said police had served notices to Sanjush.“As the road accident negligence case punishment is below seven years, it is bailable. There is no arrest in the case. We have served notices to the accused. There is no lacuna in police reporting in the case,” Sridhar said.Section 106(1) of the BNS provides for imprisonment of up to five years and a fine for causing death by a rash or negligent act not amounting to culpable homicide.Police said the investigation into the circumstances of the crash was continuing. Sanjush and Lingamaneni Ramesh were contacted for their response, but an email seeking comment remained unanswered.Cyberabad Police Commissioner Masthipuram Ramesh Reddy was also unavailable for comment.Police are examining the circumstances surrounding the accident and the sequence of events leading to Bharati’s death.The case has brought renewed attention to Sanjush’s public profile as the son of a sitting Rajya Sabha MP, as well as to the high-end Aston Martin involved in the fatal crash.
