Humidity leaves Delhiites sweating despite cooler day

New Delhi: Delhi saw little relief even as it recorded below-normal maximum temperature Sunday as high humidity levels made outdoor conditions more uncomfortable.The “feels-like” temperature crossed 42.5 degrees Celsius while actual temperature was 38 degrees Celsius at 2:30 pm. At 39.1 degrees Celsius, Ridge was the hottest area of the city. Met has forecast a rise in maximum temperatures over the coming days.While the possibility of rain and moisture-laden easterly winds remains, the accompanying increase in humidity is likely to make the weather more oppressive.The minimum temperature was recorded at 26.2 degrees Celsius, two notches above normal, against 21.4 degrees Celsius a day earlier. Gradual rise in maximum temperatures by 4-6 degrees Celsius during next 7 days. Gradual rise in minimum temperatures by 3-5 degrees Celsius during next 7 days,” stated IMD.The maximum temperature is expected to hover around 38-40 degrees Celsius Monday. A yellow alert has been issued expecting light rain with thunderstorm.The air quality deteriorated from satisfactory to moderate Sunday. The AQI was 151 against 96 a day earlier.
