Gurgaon: HSVP is planning a govt school in Sector 44 with infrastructure and facilities designed to “international standards”, marking a shift from its traditional role of making school sites available through auction.The five-acre campus, near Ramada hotel, is intended to support international curricula such as International Baccalaureate (IB). The campus is planned to have a 750-sq-metre swimming pool, two 800-seat auditoriums, a robotics lab and dedicated spaces for yoga, music and dance.The proposed five-storey school is also being planned with green-building features, solar power, heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, extensive CCTV and security infrastructure, fire-safety installations and specialised electrical systems.HSVP has started the process of appointing a technical consultant to prepare the detailed project report (DPR), designs, quantities and draft tender documents. The consultancy tender was issued on Sept 18 and closes on Oct 5. The consultant will be required to complete the DPR within four months of appointment.According to the proposed layout, the ground floor will feature the swimming pool, separate changing rooms, reception, meeting rooms, administrative offices and classrooms for UKG students. A conference room and offices for the director, principal and vice-principal are also planned.The first floor will have a cafeteria and yoga room, while the second floor will have an 800-seat auditorium, a multipurpose hall and rooms for music and dance. Another 800-seat auditorium, along with a library, classrooms, a dance room and robotics laboratory, is proposed on the third floor. Sports facilities are planned on the fourth floor.The project comes months after HSVP modified its policy for school sites to introduce provisions for the “international board standard”. The policy was uploaded by the authority on March 6.The Sector 44 project marks a shift from HSVP’s earlier approach of primarily making institutional school sites available through auction. Under the proposed model, the authority is itself planning the campus, technical specifications and infrastructure requirements before construction is put out to tender.“HSVP will prepare the international-board school. A tender has been issued for preparing the DPR and the consultant is expected to be appointed by next month,” said Yogesh Kumar, sub-divisional engineer, HSVP.Officials said the consultant would determine the project cost, structural design and detailed requirements through the DPR. The project is currently at the planning stage, and the final construction cost, built-up area, student strength and academic programme will be determined after the DPR is prepared.The proposal would introduce an institution planned to international standards within a govt-developed institutional campus in Gurgaon, where international curricula are largely offered by private schools. The planned facilities extend beyond classrooms to sports, performing arts, technology and recreation.
