New Delhi: A fire broke out at a house in northwest Delhi’s Majlis Park Saturday night, triggering a rescue operation in the congested locality.Around 25 police personnel evacuated residents from the burning building and neighbouring houses and began efforts to contain the flames before fire tenders could reach the spot. During the operation, a cooking gas cylinder exploded, followed by two more suspected blasts from air-conditioner outdoor units.According to Delhi Fire Services (DFS), a call about the blaze at a house in street no. 10 was received at 9.11pm. Five fire tenders were rushed to the spot, while police received a PCR call around 9.18pm and personnel from Adarsh Nagar police station responded. The narrow lanes in the area delayed the movement of fire tenders, making it difficult for them to access the affected building. As fire tenders struggled their way through the congested locality, the cops began evacuating families from the burning house as well as adjoining residences. During the effort, a cooking gas cylinder exploded inside the house. Soon after, two more explosions were heard, which police suspect were caused by the outdoor units of air conditioners installed in the building.Once fire tenders reached the site, firefighters took over the operation and brought the blaze under control by around 10.30pm.The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
