Chandigarh: The Congress Legislature Party on Tuesday finalised issues it plans to raise during the Haryana assembly’s monsoon session, with law and order, Gurgaon waterlogging, sanitation workers’ agitation, jobs and alleged scams among the key concerns.The meeting was chaired by leader of opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda, who said Congress would move adjournment motions on alleged scams involving IDFC Bank, AU Small Finance Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, the Panchkula municipal corporation (MC) and others.The party will also move calling attention motions on alleged unfulfilled promises to Haryana youth under the Haryana Kaushal Rozgar Nigam, the law and order situation and rising organised crime.Congress MLAs will seek discussions on the sanitation workers’ agitation, Gurgaon waterlogging, farmers’ compensation, property and collector-rate taxes, electricity privatisation, smart meters and demands of guest teachers and other employees.Hooda accused the BJP govt of failing on law and order, citing recent incidents of firing in Dadri and a dacoity in Kurukshetra. “The manner in which miscreants executed a crime right in front of a police station clearly indicates a complete lack of fear of the law. Open incidents of looting, dacoity, extortion, murder, and firing have become routine in Haryana,” he said.Hooda also claimed the Centre’s Social Progress Index had described Haryana as the country’s most unsafe state and held the state govt responsible for the situation.On guest teachers, Hooda said a court ruling had supported their demand for regularisation and urged the govt to extend them benefits available to permanent employees. “Given this, the govt should immediately regularise them and extend the benefits enjoyed by permanent employees. Yet, instead of doing so, the govt is ignoring the court’s verdict,” he said.
