NEW DELHI: The young man seen being slapped by Delhi PWD Minister Parvesh Verma during a road inspection in Tilak Nagar has said he was at the spot after the PWD department called him and others to assess the condition of the road.Identified as Saheb, the man said he showed Verma how the road surface was breaking apart before the minister allegedly raised his hand against him and his associates threatened to kill him.Saheb said he handles all social media activities for the local MLA and had accompanied the team for the road inspection.“I handle all social media activities for the MLA. We came here after the PWD department called us to inspect the condition of this road. I showed him how the road surface was breaking apart. When this was pointed out, the Minister couldn’t handle it; he raised his hand against me, and his associates threatened to kill me,” Saheb said.He alleged that police personnel were present at the spot when the incident took place.“The police were present right there, and all of this happened in their presence. He must apologize, and whatever disciplinary action is required—such as suspension—should be taken,” Saheb said.Saheb also said the incident was captured on video and that he had approached the police.“We aren’t just making claims; there is video evidence of everything. Action must be taken. We have lodged an FIR and will pursue further action,” he said.A video of the incident, earlier shared by the Aam Aadmi Party, showed Verma pulling down the man’s mobile phone with his left hand while appearing to slap him across the face with his right hand.The incident took place while the minister was inspecting a road in Tilak Nagar.Saheb’s account comes after the video triggered political reactions, with former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal also sharing the video and calling for Verma’s arrest.
