Jaipur: Rajasthan High Court has directed Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) to furnish a detailed account of alleged encroachments beneath and along high-tension electricity lines in Prithviraj Nagar, seeking the number of houses and shops, details of their occupants and the officers responsible for enforcement over the past decade.The directions were issued by a division bench of Acting Chief Justice Sanjeev Prakash Sharma and Justice Bhuvan Goyal in its July 28 order while hearing a petition filed by Sahab Singh.During the hearing, JDA’s enforcement officer informed the bench that he joined the authority on April 20 and that extensive encroachments existed throughout the high-tension corridor in the area. According to the officer, nearly 800 houses and around 200 shops have come up along and beneath the high-tension power lines.Taking note of the submission, High Court directed JDA to substantiate the claim with supporting documents.“The enforcement officer concerned should file an affidavit specifying the number of houses and shops, details of the occupants and photographs of the structures allegedly standing within the high-tension corridor,” the court said in its order.In a significant direction, the bench also sought details of all enforcement officers posted in JDA Zones 18 and 19, which cover Prithviraj Nagar area, during the last ten years, along with their present places of posting. The direction indicates that the court intends to examine the administrative responsibility for the alleged encroachments in the area over the years.The matter has been listed for further hearing on Aug 12.
