NEW DELHI: BJP MP and actor Kangana Ranaut on Monday hit back at several film industry figures and yoga guru Baba Ramdev over their criticism of her recent remarks, accusing her detractors of targeting her for publicity.Speaking to reporters at Delhi Airport, Ranaut said she would not take advice from people who, according to her, had not achieved comparable professional success.“Every day, I see people like Ashutosh Rana — who says I bark like a dog — or the likes of Sonu Sood. Then there are people like Rakhi Sawant, who make all sorts of remarks about my character, and Taapsee Pannu, who insults my parents, my upbringing and my background,” she said.Ranaut described her critics as “failed” and “completely irrelevant” people who, she alleged, abuse her to gain media attention.“If you haven’t achieved even one per cent of the success I have in life, I am not going to listen to you,” she said, adding that she would not tolerate what she called personal attacks.Ranaut also hit out at Baba Ramdev over his remarks on women, saying he had “crossed every boundary of decency”.“The kind of comments he has made about a woman have shamed society. Given the remarks he makes about women, I think he really needs to reflect on his perspective regarding them,” she said. The latest exchange follows the controversy over Ranaut’s “Generation Gutter” remark while criticising protesters at Jantar Mantar. Her comments triggered criticism from several public figures, including Sonu Sood and Rakhi Sawant. The controversy also brought her longstanding differences with actors Taapsee Pannu and Ashutosh Rana into focus. Ramdev had separately criticised Ranaut’s remarks about the younger generation, leading to a public exchange between the two.Ranaut, who represents Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi Lok Sabha constituency, has frequently been involved in public disagreements with personalities from the film industry and other public figures.(With ANI inputs)
