Chandigarh: Haryana will intensify its fight against financial frauds by using artificial intelligence, stronger market intelligence and wider public awareness around the revamped SACHET Portal, chief secretary Anurag Rastogi said on Monday.The chief secretary was chairing the 16th meeting of the State Level Coordination Committee (SLCC) convened by the Reserve Bank of India.The meeting reviewed action taken on decisions from the previous SLCC and discussed alleged financial frauds, unauthorised deposit collection, complaints filed through SACHET, market inputs, investor protection and emerging cyber threats.Officials were informed that more than 36 lakh investors in the PACL Limited case had so far received refunds totalling Rs 3,864 crore.Vivek Srivastava, regional director, RBI, briefed the committee on the upgraded SACHET Portal, which handles market intelligence and complaints linked to unregulated financial activities.The new portal, launched on June 25, 2026, has a modern interface, smoother workflow and access in 13 national languages to widen public use. It also includes improved accessibility features for differently-abled users and a tutorial video explaining the complaint-filing process.Rastogi directed departments to step up public awareness about the portal so that citizens can easily report suspicious deposit schemes and other unlawful financial activities. The committee also reviewed the status of complaints received from Haryana through SACHET.The meeting flagged new patterns of financial fraud in the state, including cyber fraud linked to online gaming. Officials said fraudsters were luring young users through fake in-game rewards and, in some cases, exploiting payment accounts linked to parents’ bank accounts to carry out unauthorised transactions.The committee stressed the need for faster intelligence sharing among agencies, sustained awareness campaigns, and a coordinated institutional response to tackle cyber-enabled financial crime.On technology-led safeguards, the RBI briefed members on MuleHunter.ai – an artificial intelligence and machine learning tool developed by the Reserve Bank Innovation Hub to detect mule accounts used to route fraudulent funds. The tool has been deployed across 31 major banks.The RBI also informed the committee that more than 25,000 financial literacy programmes had been conducted across Haryana to promote safe banking, informed use of financial services and protection against fraud. It also highlighted its YouTube podcast series, “RBI Talks: Paisa to Policy”, aimed at simplifying financial issues for ordinary citizens.
