Gurgaon: Haryana govt is set to expand its flagship Mission Buniyaad programme by setting up 22 new centres across 14 districts, taking the total number of offline centres in the state to 125.The programme was launched to strengthen foundational learning among students in govt schools and prepare them for competitive examinations such as JEE and NEET. Education department officials said it focuses on building conceptual understanding, analytical skills and subject knowledge from an early stage to improve students’ performance in higher education and national-level entrance examinations.The new centres will be opened in govt senior secondary schools in districts including Sirsa, Fatehabad, Hisar, Jind and Kurukshetra. Additional centres are also planned in Ambala, Kaithal, Karnal, Gurgaon, Mewat, Palwal, Yamunanagar and Sonipat. Officials said the centres will be opened in phases, with infrastructure, teaching staff and digital support being finalised before the new academic session.According to the department, nearly 100 meritorious students will be selected for mentoring at each centre, while around 600 students from different schools will receive online mentoring support through the programme.At present, 103 Mission Buniyaad centres are providing online academic support to nearly 2,600 students across the state. In addition, 123 centres are already operating in offline mode. Officials said the expansion is aimed at extending the programme’s reach and providing quality academic support to a larger number of students, particularly those from rural and economically weaker backgrounds.The department has also begun preparations for both online and offline classes at the new centres. Officials said the initiative is part of the state’s broader effort to improve learning outcomes in govt schools and provide meritorious students with access to structured academic guidance without relying on private coaching.
