MAHENDRAGARH: In a crackdown on the narcotics trade, Mahendragarh district police have dismantled a drug syndicate and arrested 11 accused, including a Nigerian national identified as a key supplier, during a special drive. The action, carried out under the supervision of Superintendent of Police Deepak Jewaria, led to the seizure of 33 grams of heroin (‘chitta’), 63 grams of ganja, 220 intoxicant capsules, and counterfeit currency. Police registered four separate cases as part of a zero-tolerance campaign against drug trafficking. CIA Narnaul initially had arrested a local peddler, Dinesh, from Takht Bawri on March 13 with 19 grams of smack and ₹13,900 in cash as part of this special campaign. Investigators then traced the supply chain through a network of intermediaries—Himanshu, Vinod, and Rinku—before arresting Nigerian national Ikechukwu, a resident of Anambra, on March 31.Police seized ₹18,500 in cash, a scooty, and counterfeit “toy notes” worth ₹32,300 from him. Officials are examining his visa status and links to a wider network operating across the NCR.Multiple raids were conducted across the district as part of the drive. On April 10, Lalaram was caught selling 63 grams of ganja from an e-rickshaw in Mahendragarh Mandi. A day later, Deepanshu was arrested near the Shiv Mandir area with 18 grams of heroin valued at around ₹50,000.In another operation, Vishal was held with 15 grams of heroin, leading police to his supplier Punit and the seizure of a motorcycle used for distribution. On April 13, Vishnu Dutt was caught with 220 intoxicant capsules, and subsequent interrogation led police to Rajasthan’s Singhana, where Ashok, a medical store operator, was arrested for illegal supply.Police said most of the arrested accused are repeat offenders with prior cases under the NDPS Act and records of violent crime, with several listed as history-sheeters.SP Deepak said the campaign against narcotics will intensify further, with police committed to uprooting the drug network entirely. He urged citizens to share information about suspicious activities, assuring strict confidentiality for informants.
