PUNE: A 42-second video from June 19, 2024 showing Pune murder accused Siya Goyal celebrating at a luxury nightclub has surfaced on social media, days after she was arrested in connection with the death of her fiancé and realtor Ketan Agarwal. The video opens inside a dimly lit club, with disco lights flashing and music playing in the background. Siya can be seen on her phone, appearing to be in a celebratory mood.Moments later, a waiter enters carrying a tray with a liquor bottle-shaped object, with “Hammerzz” — the name of the luxury nightclub — printed on the tray. A waitress holding a placard marked “Round 1” walks alongside him.As the camera moves across the dance floor, Siya is seen dancing to the music with other club-goers in the background. In another sequence, she is seen holding a cake, cutting it while moving to the music. The camera then turns towards a large screen displaying the message: “Happy birthday, Siya” as she continues celebrating. The video, which is from 2024, has now gone viral amid the ongoing investigation into the death of 26-year-old Pune businessman Ketan Agarwal, who police allege was pushed into a gorge at Lohagad Fort.According to police, Ketan, who died while on a trek on June 18, was allegedly pushed by Siya and her alleged lover Chetan Babulal Chaudhary, both of whom are currently in police custody. The incident took place a day before Siya’s birthday on June 19. Interestingly, the viral video that has resurfaced appears to carry the same date from two years ago.Initially, police believed Ketan had accidentally fallen into the gorge while taking photographs. Siya had told the Lonavala rural police that Ketan slipped and fell while posing for pictures amid strong winds at the fort.A rescue team later recovered his body after a three-hour operation, and an accidental death report was registered. However, during the investigation, police said they found suspicious circumstances and began examining multiple angles, including personal relationships and financial disputes.Superintendent of Police, Pune Rural, Sandip Singh Gill, said on Tuesday that the circumstances surrounding the death appeared suspicious, prompting a deeper investigation.“Our teams examined multiple angles, including financial disputes and personal relationships. During the probe, police found that Siya was in a relationship with Chaudhary, a resident of Kondhwa in Pune,” he said to news agency PTI.Police said their investigation revealed that Siya was allegedly unwilling to marry Ketan and considered him an obstacle to her relationship with Chaudhary.According to police, the two allegedly conspired to eliminate Ketan. As part of the plan, Siya allegedly took him to Lohagad Fort under the pretext of an outing, while Chaudhary was called to the location later.Police said Chaudhary had reached the fort before the couple arrived and later followed them to an isolated spot, where he and Siya allegedly pushed Ketan into the valley.Based on suspicion, the local crime branch detained Chaudhary. Police said his interrogation led to the arrest of Siya.“Following a complaint lodged by Ketan’s father, Vishal Agarwal, the Lonavala rural police registered a case of murder and criminal conspiracy under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita on Tuesday,” Gill said to news agency PTI.Ketan’s father Vishal Agarwal, speaking to PTI Videos, alleged that Siya showed no visible grief after his son’s body was brought home.“When the police came with my son’s body, Siya did not show any reaction. There was no sadness on her face,” he said.He also alleged that Siya had earlier sabotaged a planned pre-wedding trip to Bali.According to Vishal Agarwal, Siya, Ketan, her brother and Ketan’s sister were travelling to Mumbai airport for a flight to Indonesia, carrying all four passports in one pouch. He alleged that at a food mall in Lonavala, Siya returned to the car on the pretext of collecting her phone. When they reached the airport, Ketan’s passport was found missing, forcing the family to cancel the trip.Agarwal claimed that after the Bali trip was cancelled, Siya argued with Ketan and insisted on visiting Lohagad. He further alleged that on June 14, the couple had visited the same location at Lohagad Fort, where Ketan later died. According to him, Ketan survived that earlier incident by holding on to nearby bushes.“When Ketan realised he had been pushed, Siya raised a false alarm about a snake and claimed she had pushed him only to protect him. Looking back, I believe there was an attempt to kill Ketan even on June 14,” Agarwal alleged. He also alleged that the Goyal family may have been aware of the alleged conspiracy and could have played a role, though police have not confirmed these claims.Agarwal said the Goyal family had approached them with a marriage proposal and insisted that Siya and Ketan were a suitable match.Ketan, a resident of Gahunje in Pune district, was a director in his family’s real estate business and had completed an MS in Entrepreneurship. Siya holds a commerce degree from a private college.Police said further investigation is underway to establish the exact sequence of events, collect forensic evidence and determine whether any other people were involved in the alleged conspiracy.Lohagad Fort, where the incident took place, is associated with the history of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and is among the 12 forts of Maharashtra included in the UNESCO World Heritage Site listing.(With agency inputs)
